Need for Transformation to a New Pattern of Life and Work
Many of the most creative and productive people no longer want to live in relationships and work in organizations led, structured and operated as inhuman machines. The Isis Institute calls them linear machine system environments. These people do not want anymore to be subservient to the command & control model of management.
They want to live and work in new ways in more open human environments aligned with their new human identity and their new patterns for creating and productivity – The Isis Institute calls these non-linear Living System environments.
This situation means the best people no longer want to work for the vast majority of existing organizations. This is surely critical for the effectiveness of business and national economies. It appears that many current leaders and managers are not aware of this situation – Some deny it exists, few see it and still fewer are doing anything about it – Except making the problem worse by trying to fix-up problems within the current pattern of life and work rather than transforming to the newly emerging one.
Why Is This Happening Now?
We live and work at one of the few times of world transformation in human history. At these times a new pattern of human nature appears on Earth within the psyches of leading-edge persons. Their arrival is at first invisible to the majority because their number is still small and their unique human identity makes no sense to the then existing majority. At these times chaos and turmoil increase and become the prevailing pattern of human events – A living example of the myth of the Phoenix appears in mankind.
This pattern means a new era of human history is coming. An existing, still dominant pattern of civilization is in pessimistic decline while a nascent optimistic pattern of civilization is born and then begins to grow non-linearly to dominance.
Why There Are Isis Institute Living system Programs
The Isis Institute Programs enable you to understand the world transformation, understand and value yourself as a transforming leader and to learn for yourself how to practice the emerging pattern of life and work. It is called Living System Life and Work as I will explain in this post.
You cannot get this leading-edge knowledge from conventional sources – Personal, professional or educational. You cannot get the new means to live and work in the Living System pattern from conventional sources because they are based upon linear machine system pattern of life and work. They are fixated on current directions, not on the emerging ones. Why?
At times of world transformation, the existing majority and their institutions are consumed with a complex mass of severe problems they are trying to fix-up – Using their existing psyche stage patterns and mindsets. These psyche stage patterns do not enable them to see that their problems are not fixable during these special periods without first making their own human transformation to the new stage and its new mindset.
Therefore, they see no need to transform in their basic human nature. They do not see that the conventional pattern of life and work is in terminal decline from its former effectiveness for leading the world of human affairs. They do not yet see the birth of the new psyche stage pattern that inherently contains new human competencies that are the keys for not just solving current problems, but transcending them.
Most of human history occurs between the relatively brief periods of chaotic world transformation. Between transformation periods, the problems and opportunities in human affairs CAN be handled through the then dominant psyche stage pattern and its mindset. They still work – They are not yet in terminal decay. But during transformation periods the situation is drastically different. – Then, the existing still dominant psyche stage and mindset ARE in terminal decline. Major problems and opportunities CAN’T be handled except through transformation away from the existing stage and mindset to the emerging psyche stage and mindset pattern – All else turns out to be futile.
During transformation periods, the emerging persons begin to create new lives and organizations in qualitatively new ways discontinuous with what then currently exists. They are a new Genre – a new category – of world leaders who develop new standards for outstanding results that lead them beyond any previous accomplishments. They eventually become the new majority that replaces who and what currently exists.
However, today at the leading edge of our current world transformation, these emerging persons are not yet recognized, understood, valued or even tolerated by the existing majority. Existing organizations do not generally encourage or nurture their contributions. In fact, many emerging persons today do not even recognize, understand or value their own new identity in terms of what currently exists. They have no model of human reality to validate themselves. They just know that they feel, think, are motivated and behave in ways that are out-of-step with many other persons and organization norms. They are like the legendary American comic Rodney Dangerfield who always said – “I don’t get no respect!” This is the normal situation during world transformations. It existed at the beginning of each of the six previous turning points in human history. It is happening again today.
It is important to realize that world transformation to a new psyche stage is not about major change WITHIN the current pattern of society – It is about a transcendent transformation OF the current pattern of society to a qualitatively new pattern discontinuous from what previously existed on Earth - It is called the Living System pattern of life and work for reasons I am in the process of developing.
This time the emerging new era is so dramatically different from the current patterns of human life and work, that I also identify it as the 2nd Renaissance. Its most important result is the leap to the Living System pattern of life and work and away from the still dominant, but declining, Linear Machine System and Relativistic System patterns of life and work. This leap drastically changes everything and leads directly to its new path for success in life and business that is inconsistent with the current path.
The fundamental need today is to transform your human and business identity to align with the emerging pattern of Living System Life and Work. Thus, emerging 2nd Renaissance leaders have unfilled needs for learning, for services and for collaboration to enable them to make these transformations and implement their applications. Such learning, services and collaboration are not available through conventional institutions.
